*Jamila Gavin's first book The Magic Orange was published in 1979 and she has since produced collections of short stories and several junior and teenage novels. These include Grandpa Chatterji, which was shortlisted for the Smarties Award and The Surya Trilogy. Coram Boy was published in 2000 and was awarded the Whitbread Children’s Book of the Year.
